There is always something special about having youngsters out on safari, and this hunt with Evans and Emerson from Idaho was no exception. A grandfather and grandson sharing the African bush together creates memories that last a lifetime, and from the very first day the smiles and excitement told us this was going to be a memorable South African hunting safari.
Day one delivered action straight away when Emerson connected on a good quality Warthog deep in the thick bushveld. It was a challenging recovery through heavy cover, but the young hunter stayed focused and handled the moment well while Grandad watched on with obvious pride and satisfaction. The excitement around the campfire that evening was hard to beat, with stories from the day already becoming part of the family history.

As the safari continued, the hunting remained productive with plenty of opportunities at quality plains game animals. Evans enjoyed excellent success during the week and managed to take a beautiful Kudu bull, one of Africa’s most iconic and respected antelope species. He also added a fine Springbuck to the tally, making for a very rewarding safari for the Idaho hunters.
Beyond the hunting itself, one of the most meaningful moments of the week came at the end of the safari during another meat delivery to Mama Margaret’s orphanage. The contribution of fresh game meat is always deeply appreciated, and it was wonderful to see Evans share a few kind words with Mama Margaret. The gratitude from her and the children is something that leaves a lasting impression on all of us.

It remains a privilege to witness the incredible work Mama Margaret and her team continue to do under very difficult circumstances. Being able to combine an unforgettable African hunting safari with an opportunity to give back to the local community makes these trips even more rewarding for everyone involved.
Safaris like this remind us why introducing younger generations to hunting and conservation is so important. Watching Emerson experience Africa alongside his grandfather was truly special, and we look forward to welcoming the boys back to South Africa for another adventure in the future.
